Dinagyang 3D Painting

The "Dagyang, Iloilo" public art installation is a monumental 3D sculpture and painting located at Esplanade 1 in Mandurriao, Iloilo City. Gifted to the city by the family of the late businessman and philanthropist Jose "Pepe" Layson, the artwork was unveiled during the COVID-19 pandemic as a permanent symbol of Ilonggo resilience, deep cultural pride, and devotion to the Señor Santo Niño. Positioned near the entrance across from the Datu Paiburong statue, it serves as a prominent landmark celebrating the spirit of the world-famous Dinagyang Festival.

The striking installation stands at 15 feet tall and is a masterclass in high-relief art, blending sculpted figures with a vivid painted mural. Conceptualized and designed by award-winning artist Harry Mark Cataluna Gonzales alongside consultant Ed Defensor, the project was brought to life in collaboration with the HIMBON Visual Artists Group. The artwork features a central Ati warrior proudly hoisting the Sto. Niño, surrounded by dynamic, leaping festival dancers and a background mural that beautifully showcases Iloilo’s historical roots, heritage churches, and vibrant traditions.
